Greer Chicago

Friday, October 31st, 2008

GREER was founded with the mission of bringing a little more beauty,  a bit more thought and a touch of civility into the world.  With a  passion for paper and communication, a background in advertising, a University of Chicago MBA and a discerning eye, owner Chandra Greer has created a company whose goal is to provide a well-edited array of some of the best-designed paper goods in the world.  “GREER’s offerings range from well-known brands like Pancake & Franks, Elum (which Chandra feels is one of the most masterful stationery lines around,) Egg Press, Vera Wang and Snow & Graham to a huge selection of little known, up-and-coming independents.”

Chandra, IMHO is one of the best when it comes to merchandising product.  Take a look at some of these shots of her store and you’ll see why.

Miao Custom Show: Coming November 14th to Subtext

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Nov. 14th – Dec. 7th, 2008 Opening Reception: Friday, November 14th, 6-10pm

Subtext has teamed up with Zakkamono, to bring you an incredible custom vinyl show just in time for the holidays. The format will be the new Miao (Lucky Cat & Mousubi), and they  have curated 50 artists from around the globe to do custom versions of this great toy! Yes 50. Miao is the first collectible designer vinyl figure designed by Zakka. It is an updated design of the Japanese Maneki Neko/Lucky Cat (an iconic Japanese figure that brings good luck and good fortune). Miao measures 7-inches tall and comes with his BFF Mousubi, a 3-inch character designed with the elements of a musubi/onigiri (Japanese rice ball wrapped with Nori/seaweed) and a mouse. This is shaping up to be an insane show. The first pictured above is from Sandra Equihua, and the second is from Long Lé.

We recently printed Lucidity with a couple changes in the pattern, where we switched the pattern that would normally go on the reply card and used it for the invitation for Annette and Michael. Look how lovely it came out. Congrats to Annette and Michael! Photo courtesy of thompsonweddings.com

Chunky Monkey Cake

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

There’s nothing like going overboard for your baby’s first birthday.  A client of ours loved the monkey on the invite so much that she sent a picture of it to a local cake maker and asked if they could do something fun replicating the monkey and the invite.  You can see from the picture that this woman doesn’t miss a beat.  She did an amazing job.  Not only was the cake absolutely beautiful but it tasted delicious.  The little added touch was to use a banana pudding filling.  Their little monkey just loved it!

The cake was from:
